Program Overview
Higher National Diploma in English is being conducted as full time and part time with the duration of 2 ½ years and 2 years respectively.
The full time course has 2 year course work and 06 months implant training in specialized fields where as the part time course has 2 years course work only.
The applicants should have one of the following
Successful completion of GCE ( A/ L) Examination (Old syllabus ) in four subjects with “ C “ pass in English Language at GCE (O / L) Examination.
OR
Successful completion of GCE ( A/ L) Examination (New syllabus ) in three subjects with “ C “ pass in English Language at GCE (O / L) Examination.
OR
English specialist Teacher Training certificate; or the Diploma offered by the College of Education.
OR
Successful completion of GCE ( A/ L) Examination (New syllabus ) in three subjects and a pass at the National Certificate in English for Commerce, industry and further Education conducted by the Department of Technical Education & Training or equivalent qualifications
NOTE: The applicants for the Part Time course should have a permanent employment with one of the above mentioned qualifications.
Entry Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Applicants should have the following qualifications: (a) Passed the G.C.E. (A/L) examination in one sitting in any stream (General English will not be considered as one of the main three subjects) and (b) Credit pass for English and ordinary pass for Mathematics at the G.C.E. (O/L) examination. or Ordinary pass for Appreciation of English Literary Text and Mathematics at the G.C.E. (O/L) examination

Applications are typically accepted from January to March each year. Please check our notices section for exact dates and deadlines.
Required Documents
G.C.E. A/L or O/L certificates, Birth Certificate, National Identity Card (NIC), and passport-sized photographs. Additional documents may be required based on the program.

Government subsidized fees apply. Full fee details are provided at the time of application. Installment payment options may be available. (This is applicable in Part-Time course only.)
